Trends Over Time and Geographic Differences in Selected Health Indicators
Starting in 2022, the Israel National Program for Quality Indicators in Community Healthcare has published a Health Disparities Report reflecting the national set of quality indicators. These reports include prevalence data and process measures for indicators from the national indicator set, presented by socioeconomic status, population group, and residential district.

Health Disparities for 2023 DataThe new data for 2023 include follow-up data to the first report published (for 2021 data), and, for the first time, also include data by population group (Haredi, Arab, or General), as well as data on the use of sleep and anxiety medications and antidepressants.
It is well established that cultural factors, health literacy, access to healthcare services, and potentially even the quality of services provided to people from certain socioeconomic groups, population groups, or different localities may influence adherence to quality measures and, moreover, their health status.
Reports such as this one aim to reflect disparities across as many dimensions as possible, in order to help focus efforts on reducing these disparities and improving the health of the population as a whole. -

2021 Report -In this first-of-its-kind report, trends over time in socioeconomic disparities were examined for several selected quality measures, as well as geographic disparities by residential district for selected measures in 2021.
The findings indicate that socioeconomic disparities exist across a substantial proportion of the measures, with a clear gradient showing poorer outcomes among populations of lower socioeconomic status. Widening disparities were observed in smoking rates, obesity among adolescents and men, diabetes prevalence, and rates of screening for early detection of breast cancer. A reduction in disparities was demonstrated in diabetes control rates and in screening rates for the early detection of colorectal cancer. -
