Obesity is an epidemic expected to increase morbidity and accelerate mortality in Western countries, while also posing a tremendous economic burden (1)(2)(3) The BMI value is a measure of obesity, based on a person’s weight relative to their height (kg/m²) The WHO defines individuals with a BMI over 25 as overweight, and those with a BMI over 30 are classified as obese. (2). This definition allows for identifying individuals in the population and tailoring appropriate interventions to address one of the most significant risk factors for many chronic diseases in the modern era. Paying attention to the identification and treatment of obesity, especially before the onset of related morbidity, is of great importance (4).
