According to data from the World Health Organization (WHO) for the year 2022, breast cancer is the most common malignant disease among women worldwide, and is responsible for the highest number of cancer-related deaths among women (1). In Israel, breast cancer mortality rates have remained stable among Arab women and have consistently declined in recent years among Jewish women (2), an improvement partly attributed to increased early detection (3)(4). Mammography is an X-ray-based method commonly used for the early detection of breast cancer. The Israeli Ministry of Health recommends performing a mammogram once every two years for women at average risk between the ages of 50 and 74. The test is carried out as part of active outreach screening program by the health maintenance organizations (HMOs).
